Hi there.

Could any one out there let me know the answer to, when does a van
become a camper van. I am already having trouble with my insurance just
for fitting two windows in my van, which is a Peugeot Boxer LWB and they
now want an engineers report just for this! I am now not sure on
seats etc as they are not to keen on this either, so I am a little stuck
at the moment on whether to carry on with my home conversion.
Please could anyone give advice on this, and I need to know the laws on
carrying gas in van , for cooking etc.

Thanks

Clay

Hi,

I've just purchased a Renault Traffic AutoSleeper. and I didn't get a manual
with it. After a couple of days I managed to work out how most things
worked, though I cant get the hot water to run in the shower or kitchen
sink, the water pump is working for the cold water, and the boiler is
igniting. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

We are hoping for some advice before we go and receive a hefty bill from the
garage! Any suggestions from anyone (or if anyone else has had these
problems with the Mercedes Vito Reimo) we would be very grateful to hear.
We purchased our Mercedes Vito Reimo earlier this year which only had 11K on
the clock and was very good condition. However to our utmost dismay
after leaving the van standing on the private drive where we keep it when
not in use we have found the inside very damp and cannot as yet ascertain
where the leaks are coming from. The carpets are soaking wet and
mildew everywhere. Also where the wood (chipboard) has got wet this has
become all swollen.

We are a homesick expat Brum and me, hi...

We are a homesick expat Brum and me, his Kiwi wife. Been back here in
NZ for 24 years (last holiday in UK 1990) and next year we are coming
back for 6 weeks. We operate a small 2 & 3 berth campervan rental
company in NZ and would be quite happy to swap one of ours for a similar
size one in the UK for 6 weeks in June - July next year for us and
anytime at this stage, for the NZ part of the swap. Ours are 1996
models very well maintained, Toyota and Mazda hi tops. Standard factory
conversions, well equipped right down to the bedding and towels. Also
as a company we offer 24 hour roadside assistance and free Auckland or
Christchurch airport pickup. If someone is thinking of coming to NZ for
a holiday and concerned over the cost of hiring but can do a swap we're
in business. Our website if you are interested in looking at our vans

Hi,

Does anyone have any info about anti freeze
for drinking water? It would be nice not to have to empty out our fresh
water/drinking tank over the coming winter months, and I read somewhere
that it is possible to buy pure anti freeze for drinking water. Has
anyone tried this? I am concerned about the pump, but would like to keep
some water in the van for those odd winter days out!

I have just purchased a AVONDALE CUSTOM ...

I have just purchased a AVONDALE CUSTOM 4 berth, approx 1986/87,thats
about all i know at the moment, but the front offside has been leaking
and the ceiling and side interior, and the front window frame has rotten
through, I really could do with some drawings or measurements or even
some handy tips so that I can hopefully restore the interior as the rest
of the van and fittings are still in fine order. This will make a
nice project so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your
time,

Yours Sincerely

Hello Please can anyone he...

Hello

Please can anyone help. I have just
purchased a 1991 VW Trident AutoSleeper and I am not sure how to operate
the switches on the distribution board as the writing as been erased.
The board in question is a Zig CM2000. There are two rocker type
switches one of which I have found out operates the water pump but the
other I am not sure about, do you know if this has something to do with
charging the battery whilst on the move and should the switch be down
when on electric hook up. I have been sending e mail to all and
sundry but no one seems to know this model. I have e mailed
AutoSleepers twice but have had no response. I hope you can help.

 regards.

r>Greetings.

Bought our first motorhome this year - a Talbot Express Highwayman 1988 2.0L
petrol, really enjoyable, hope to upgrade in a year or two. Not sure where
to try for vehicle spares - Fiat or Peugeot dealers ?.

Particularly need to reduce the excessive gear lever movement ( hits the
dash going into 3rd ). I understand its a common problem. I have also seen a
reference to 'Defin' gear linkage - is this a 3rd party mod?.

I would appreciate any info.

Regards,

Brian Corbett.

Many thanks for you
response Ken.

I have subsequently traced the gear linkage mod manufacturer by persevering
with the phone numbers previously published in "Letters".

The firm Delfin Designs have recently moved premises ( Mid August '05 ) Now;
Delfin Designs Spettisbury Abbey Farm Tarrant Crawford Blandford Dorset.

Their new 'phone No. available shortly will be 01258 857474.

I have been quoted £200. Plus fitting £45 - there are apparently various
specs and settings so it seems worth the extra.

I have arranged to have this carried out soon.

Thanks again,

BC
